Seaside-themed crafts
One morning we were at a loss as to what to do.
The weather forecast wasn’t great, and Mummy wasn’t feeling too well, so we decided to do some crafts.
I had bought some bits and pieces to take on holiday with us, from Yellow Moon, for activities to do while away, but we decided to get some of them out and have a go at home.
We did 3 different seaside themed activities.
Firstly we made some seaside cards, using some card-stock I had in the cupboard and some seaside foam stickers.
Rachel and Jack made 3 cards each.
They enjoyed peeling off the backing and placing the stickers all over the cards.
The stickers were nice and bright colours, and were really good quality.
The finished cards looked great!
Next we made some scratch art decorations.
They chose 2 each from the packet. Rachel had an ice-cream and a starfish, and Jack had an ice lolly and a beach hut.
At first they both used the scratching sticks that came in the packet and then Rachel worked out that she could do it much easier with her finger nails.
Finally we chose some ribbons to thread through the pre-punched holes.
The last of our activities was to make a shell photo frame.
Last summer we had collected a whole load of shells from the beach by the bungalow we were staying in in Selsey and I had planned for us to do this activity then, but we had never got around to it.
We had a wooden photo frame and firstly we covered it in glue and sprinkled on some of our fake moon sand.
Then we used some clay to fill the shells so that they had a nice base on which we could put the glue and then we stuck these around the frame.
It turned out quite well.
Now we just need a great beach picture to put into it!

[…] Well, the summer is over and we are all back to school and nursery and work. So how did we get on with our summer bucket list? Well we didn’t manage to get through all of the things on there. Time just got away from us. We did make it to a couple of festivals – the British Summertime Festival and Lollibop. We paddled and swam in the sea – a lot – even though it was freezing cold! We collected shells and did lots and lots of arts and crafts. […]
